Choosing Fabric for Your Bouquet Wrap

I created my bouquet wraps using canvas fabric because it gives the wrap beautiful structure and durability, but this project works wonderfully with many fabric types.

Some fun ideas include:

  • Quilting cotton

  • Denim

  • Linen

  • Quilted fabric

  • Printed canvas

  • Embroidered fabric

If you’re using quilting cotton, I recommend using both a front and back layer for added stability. Adding interfacing can also help create extra shape and structure.

The Necchi NC-103D Sewing Machine easily handles layered fabrics and thicker seams, making it perfect for experimenting with different fabric combinations and creative sewing techniques.

Cutting Out Your Fabric Bouquet Wrap

Measure and mark all points from the template using a removable fabric marker.

Fold your fabric along the vertical center line before cutting. This helps ensure both sides remain symmetrical for a clean finished shape.

The top curved edges are optional, but they add a soft and elegant bouquet shape. If you’re new to sewing binding on curves, this is actually a great beginner-friendly curve binding project because the curve is wide and gentle.

The template also includes an optional bottom stem opening cut line, allowing flower stems to extend through the bottom of the wrap for a more natural bouquet presentation.

Sewing & Construction

Step 1: Bind the Curved Edges

Bind the top and bottom curved edges using your preferred binding method.

I used leftover jelly roll strips from another quilting project, which worked perfectly for this step.

This is a great opportunity to experiment with decorative stitches or contrast binding using the Necchi NC-103D Sewing Machine built-in stitch options.

Step 2: Create the Tie Strap

If you’re sewing your own tie strap:

  • Place fabric strip right sides together

  • Sew along the long edge

  • Turn the strip right sides out using a tube turner or safety pin

  • Press flat with an iron

  • Topstitch for a polished finish

I used a 2.5” jelly roll strip for my tie. If you want a fuller bow, try using a 3”–4” wide strip instead.

Step 3: Attach the Tie

On the back side of the bouquet wrap, mark where you want your tie strap attached.

For the smaller wrap size, I attached my tie approximately 5.5” from the bottom edge.

Pin the center of the tie and sew it securely into place.

This step is completely optional if you prefer a removable ribbon or separate tie.

Finishing Your Bouquet Wrap

Fold the bouquet wrap in half with the inside facing.

Bind the remaining straight edge and tuck the ends inward for a clean finished appearance.

And that’s it — your reusable fabric flower bouquet wrap is complete!

Creative Customization Ideas

One of my favorite things about this project is how easy it is to personalize.

Here are some fun ideas:

  • Add appliqué flowers

  • Personalize with names or phrases

  • Embroider initials or monograms

  • Add decorative stitching

  • Paint the fabric for an artistic look

  • Use quilted patchwork fabrics

  • Add lace or decorative trims

For my bouquet wrap, I added lettering using the built-in alphabet stitch feature on the Necchi NC-103D Sewing Machine.

This is such a fun way to create personalized Mother’s Day gifts, handmade keepsakes, or custom floral wraps for special occasions.
